La Plata county has recently surpassed 50,000 residents including Durango.  As such it is the new darling of national chains such as Home Depot (soon a Target).  A new medical center serves Durango and its growing community.  This facility and the natural beauty of the area has drawn some of the world’s top surgeons to the Durango Area.
